Ceat has launched India’s first-ever EV specific tyres for cars, called EnergyDrive. It has partnered with MG Motor India for the launch of their new MG Comet. The tyres that Ceat has developed ought to improve vehicle efficiency and comfort. Ceat will prove its tyre manufacturing expertise by providing high-quality and performance-oriented tyre solutions for EV’s. The tyres are expected to offer high wear resistance, low rolling resistance, longer tyre life and much more.
With this initiative to enter the EV market, Ceat has also provided electric buses and two-wheelers with its newly-designed tyres. This in turn helps the company to be counted as a brand that supports sustainable transportation. These EV specific Ceat tyres feature DuraBlock technology, which ensures improvement in tangential and lateral stiffness by 6% as compared to the current summer pattern. This tyre’s EasyFlex Cavity helps in lowering rolling resistance, which helps in achieving higher mileage, in this case, better range. Electric cars are sensitive to multiple parts & conditions, even weather, in order to deliver the best possible range.
MG Comet EV is available in a 2-door option which makes it an ultra-compact EV. The 2-door car can accommodate 4-5 people. However, only 2 seatbelts are available in the rear seat. The sub-3 meter length of the vehicle makes it the shortest car in the Indian market, at present. The car includes a dual 10.25 inch infotainment+speedometer screen layout on the dashboard. The infotainment responds to voice control commands and is also compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
MG Comet EV comes equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack and claims to have a range of about 230 km. The battery is coupled with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor that produces 42 PS power and delivers a torque of 110 Nm. Comet EV is available with a 3.3 kW AC charging option which takes 7 hours to charge from 0-100%.
