The Indian automotive market is abuzz with anticipation as MG Motor gears up to launch its latest electric vehicle, the MG Cloud EV. This 4.3-meter-long crossover promises to be a game-changer, positioned between the Comet and ZS EV in MG’s electric lineup.
The GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) saw the debut of the new Wuling Cloud EV. There are speculations that this is the same car that will come to India wih the MG badge. Let’s take a closer look at what the Cloud EV has in store for Indian buyers.
The MG Cloud EV strikes a balance between an MPV and a large hatchback. Its minimalist design features flush door handles, clean surfaces, and full-width LED light bars at both ends. The front-end design is unique, with headlamps mounted on the bumper. The rear boasts a large glasshouse, extended quarter glass sections, and steeply raked windscreens.
Inside, the Cloud EV follows a minimalist approach. The dashboard houses a large touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. Front seats can fully recline into a “sofa mode,” offering ample space. Circular speakers integrated into the door panels add a distinctive touch. In international markets, the Cloud EV comes equipped with an ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera.
Overseas, the Cloud EV offers two battery pack options: a 37.9 kWh and a 50.6 kWh. These provide ranges of 360 km and 460 km, respectively. Powering the Cloud EV is a front-axle mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 134 hp. MG aims to price the Cloud EV below Rs 20 lakh in India, positioning it competitively against rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.
The MG Cloud EV is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian electric vehicle market. With its unique design, spacious interior, and competitive pricing, it’s set to be a compelling choice for eco-conscious buyers.
