MG recently unveiled the all-new MG Astor SUV in the Indian market. The MG Astor is built on the MG ZS Platform. The new SUV will soon sell in India and compete with the highly successful Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Hyundai Creta comes with a starting price tag of INR 10.16 lakh ex-showroom. The Kia Seltos SUV comes with a price tag starting at INR 9.95 lakh ex-showroom. But MG has not yet revealed the price of the MG Astor SUV and expect the starting to be around the INR 10 lakh mark.
Powering the MG Astor will be a BritDynamic 220 1349cc Turbo-Petrol engine. The motor produces 140 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque and pairs with a 6-speed automatic transmission. MG will also offer VTI-Tech 1498cc naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces 110 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. The brand is offering a manual transmission and a CVT automatic gearbox. The Hyundai Creta comes with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a turbocharged 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. The Kia Seltos, being a Hyundai Motor Group vehicle, uses the same engine line-up but also offers a new iMT (intelligent manual transmission) in addition to the manual torque converter and DCT gearbox options.
The MG Astor measures 4323mm in length, 1809mm in width, and 1650mm in height. The Astor comes with a wheelbase of 2585mm. The Hyundai Creta measures 4300mm in length, 1790mm in width and 1635mm in height. The Hyundai Creta features a wheelbase of 2610mm. The Kia Seltos comes with an overall length of 4315mm, a width of 1800mm and a height of 1620mm. The Seltos comes with a wheelbase of 2610mm.
The MG Astor SUV comes with first-in-segment ADAS features, which include Autonomous Level 2 features. The Astor comes with Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking. The SUV also gets Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention. The car also comes with AI (Artificial Intelligence) Assistant and Car-As-A-Platform features. The Hyundai Creta comes with features such as LED headlamps, connected car features and a large panoramic sunroof, among other features. The Kia Seltos features LED headlamps, LED taillamps, and premium interior features.
