MG has launched a new top-of-the-line variant of the Astor SUV in the Indian market. When the brand introduced the Astor, the SUV came with four variants – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. Now the brand has launched a new Savvy variant of the MG Astor in the Indian market, starting at the price of INR 15.78 lakh ex-showroom.
The brand is offering the Savvy trim in a 1.5-litre Petrol CVT and the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol with Automatic Transmission. The brand is also offering the Savvy trim 1.5-litre CVT with a Sangria Red interior colour option at an additional cost of INR 10,000. The top-spec ‘Savvy’ trim also comes equipped with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The 1.5-litre Petrol CVT comes with a price tag of INR 15.78 lakh ex-showroom. The 1.5-litre Petrol CVT with Sangria Red interiors comes with a price tag of INR 15.88 lakh ex-showroom. And the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol AT comes with a sticker price of INR 17.38 lakh ex-showroom.
The MG Astor in the Savvy variant will come with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking. The brand also offers additional features such as Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention and Speed Assist. In total, the MG Astor comes with 14 Autonomous Level 2 features thanks to radar and a multipurpose camera. Safety features also include 6-airbags ESP, TCS, HDC and 27 other features as standard. The brand also revealed that the safety features, as well as the ADAS, have been optimised for the Indian market.
Powering the MG Astor is a VTi Tech 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The engine produces 110 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque paired to a CVT gearbox. On other variants, MG also provides a 5-speed manual gearbox. But the Savvy trim only comes with the CVT. Another engine option is the 1.4-litre 220TURBO petrol engine. This engine makes 140 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. The engine comes with only a 6-speed automatic transmission. The brand does not offer a diesel engine on the Astor.
