JSW MG Motor India launched a suite of pioneering electric vehicle (EV) initiatives aimed at transforming the EV landscape in India. The event, named DriEV.Bharat, featured industry-first innovations such as eHUB by MG, Project REVIVE, EVPEDIA, and the MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP).
eHUB by MG was unveiled as the industry’s first and largest OEM-backed EV charging platform, providing a unified solution for locating, reserving, and paying for charging stations. The platform collaborates with major players like Adani Total Energies Limited (ATEL), BPCL, Chargezone, HPCL, and Jio-BP, among others, to offer a comprehensive network. Available in 11 languages and equipped with trip-planning features, eHUB by MG aims to streamline the EV charging process, making it more accessible and convenient for users across India.
In partnership with TERI, Lohum, and BatX, JSW MG Motor India introduced Project REVIVE, an initiative focused on repurposing used EV batteries. This project aims to extend the life cycle of EV batteries by reusing healthy components to create energy storage solutions for community applications. A pilot project at a school in Mukteshwar demonstrated the practical benefits of this initiative, providing reliable power and promoting environmental sustainability through the principles of reuse, repair, and recycling.
EVPEDIA is India’s first dedicated EV education platform, launched to provide comprehensive information about electric vehicles. The platform offers tools for calculating the cost of ownership, understanding government policies, and accessing research papers. EVPEDIA also features an AI-powered chatbot named ‘eVir’ for quick responses to user queries, aiming to debunk myths and facilitate informed decisions about EV adoption.
The MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP) is a collaboration between MG Motor India and Jio, set to become standard in all upcoming MG vehicles. The platform introduces a range of firsts, including the MG App Store for in-car gaming, entertainment, and learning. It also features advanced voice command capabilities in six Indian languages and a novel Home-to-Car functionality, offering a seamless integration between home and vehicle ecosystems.
The event also hosted a panel discussion featuring industry experts from EY and IIT, who discussed the long-term benefits of electric vehicles. Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at JSW MG Motor India, highlighted the company’s vision: “DriEV.Bharat reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing EV technology and enhancing the user experience to accelerate EV adoption. With initiatives such as our unified charging platform, battery second-life project, EV education, and the MG-Jio ICP, we are empowering the industry as well as our customers with smarter, more sustainable choices.”
