Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vision One-Eleven electric concept. The Concept pays homage to the German carmaker’s C111 experimental vehicle. Only 16 units of the C111 were manufactured for testing and development.
This concept has been developed as a modern take on a 70’s brand icon. The two seat car comes with a monolithic exterior with an extravagant cockpit, gullwing doors and an all-silver interior.
The Vision One-Eleven boasts of a glass canopy and a low drag coefficient body. It gets circular headlamps with multiple air intakes at the front. The windshield is aggressively raked as well.
There are multiple carbon-fibre elements including sills and a splitter up front. There is a large rear spoiler at the back.
Overall, the One-Eleven gets multiple rounded elements including wheel arches. These are filled with massive 275/35 R22 and 315/30 R22 wheels front and back respectively.
On the inside, the car gets two seats. These get pedals, steering wheel and adjustments like the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar. The dashboard gets pixelated design and a driver information display. The dash also houses a touchscreen unit running the latest MBUX version.
The seats get silver upholstery while Mercedes has used white and orange in the cockpit as well.
This concept is powered by dual rear axial-flux motors. These are made by the British company Yasa. The battery is meanwhile developed by Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 team. These make use of liquid-cooled cylindrical cells. The concept also gets certain components derived / made to be used in motorsport electric vehicles. According to Yasa, the motors they make are just 33.3 percent the size and weight of conventional radial-flux motors used in current Mercedes EVs.
More details on the powertrain are awaited. However Mercedes has said that the Vision One-Eleven will offer motorsport level output.
