Mercedes-Benz reveals 2nd generation GLC Coupe SUV

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the 2nd generation GLC Coupe. The car is scheduled to go on sale in India by the end of this year. In terms of engine options, the car will come with a choice of two turbo engines as all was three plug-in hybrid options.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe now gets a revised exterior, updated LED headlights and new creases on the sides. Mercedes has reworked the bonnet as well as the grille. The grille is now larger and the headlamps extend into it. Further, one can also notice the larger wheel arches along with a reprofiling of a few panels.

The Coupe also comes with a sloping roofline that extends to the tailgate. It appears more slanted than regular GLC. The GLC Coupe also gets new LED tail lamps, and a new diffuser with dual tail pipes on the AMG line trim.

On the inside, there is now more space than the GLC thanks to the longer wheelbase and rear overhang. This has liberated more boot space as well.

Otherwise, the interiors are more or less same as the GLC. The dashboard design is new and it consists of a 12.3-inch driver information display and a vertical 11.9-inch infotainment screen. The GLC coupe also gets a new steering wheel and redesigned air vents.
Additionally, Mercedes says they offer higher quality materials to offer luxury and comfort to the passengers. Other optional extras include a panoramic sunroof, head-up display and a 710W Burmester surround sound with 15 speakers.

Powertrain of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

The new GLC coupe comes with a couple of petrol and diesel engines each. These feature mild hybrid tech which can add upto 200 Nm of torque when under acceleration. All these are paired with a 9-speed automatic and 4Matic all-wheel-drive as standard. The entry level GLC 200 develops 204 HP while the GLC 300 is good for 259 HP. The GLC 220d makes 197 HP while the GLC 300d generates 270 HP.

In terms of plug-in options, Mercedes is offering three options on the GLC coupe. These are the GLC 300e, GLC 400e rated at 312 HP and 380 HP and one diesel hybrid GLC 300de with 334 HP. All three offer an all-electric range of 112-130 km.

Down the line the GLC coupe will also spawn AMG’s GLC 43 and GLC 63 4Matic+ with upto 680 HP of power.
