India’s largest luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz, has announced the commencement of bookings for its highly-anticipated luxury EV, EQS 580 4MATIC. Mercedes-Benz has already launched the EQS 53 4MATIC+ in India. But, one of the EQS 580 4MATIC’s main highlights is that it will be ‘Made in India’. The EQS 580 4MATIC will also be the first-ever luxury EV to roll out of the company’s manufacturing facility in India.
Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director and CEO, Martin Schwenk, said that the brand is privileged that Honourable Minister of MoRTH, Nitin Gadkari, will roll out Mercedes-Benz’s first-ever ‘Made in India’ EV. He added that it is a memorable milestone in the journey of Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Make in India’.
After the successful debut of the AMG EQS 53 AMG 4MATIC+, there has been a lot of interest in the ‘Made in India’ EQS 580 4MATIC, says Mr Schwenk. Thus, the company is confident that the luxury EV will surpass all customers’ expectations and also be a game-changer in its segment.
Interested customers can now visit their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership to book the ‘Made in India’ EQS 580 4MATIC. They can also book the luxury EV using Mercedes-Benz’s website. The booking amount for the new EQS 580 4MATIC is INR 25 lakh.
The German luxury carmaker will launch the new EQS 580 4MATIC on 30th September 2022. The brand has not revealed any delivery timelines. However, Mercedes-Benz did mention that it will honour its existing customers with priority deliveries.
The EQS 580 4MATIC is an important product for Mercedes-Benz in India for a number of reasons –
The EQS 580 4MATIC is the world’s most aerodynamic production vehicle. The luxury EV has a drag coefficient of just 0.20. It uses a large 107.8 kWh battery and makes 385 kW of power and 885 Nm of torque. The EQS 580 4MATIC sends power to all four wheels using the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The EQS 580 4MATIC also supports Ultra-Fast charging. Using a 200 kW Ultra-Fast DC Charger, it can add 300 km of range in just 15 minutes. For better manoeuvrability, it also gets rear-axle steering, which turns the rear wheels by up to 10 degrees.
Like the AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, it also gets the MBUX Hyperscreen. The large 56-inch curved screen extends from A-pillar to A-pillar. A total of 3 screens sit under the glass cover and appear to merge into one. Using the ‘zero-layer’, the most important applications are always readily available on the top level.
