Mercedes-Benz introduces EQ brand in India, EQC electric SUV launch in April 2020

Mercedes-Benz India has unveiled the EQC Edition 1886 for the Indian market. This product marks the introduction of the EQ brand in India and the EQC will be officially launched in April 2020. The brand is positioning the EQC as a sustainable luxury SUV and the name EQ as per the brand stands for electric intelligence. Mercedes-Benz will consider more models under the EQ portfolio for the Indian market in the future. Brand EQ will bring along a new ecosystem of luxury electric mobility here in the Indian market.

As you can see in the images, the EQC is much different in the looks department compared to the GLC SUV which recently got a facelift in the Indian market.

The EQC Edition 1886 will have a black applique on the grille area with louvres which will give this electric SUV a distinct look. The car will come with 20″ 10-spoke alloy wheels in gloss black, LED tail lamps, LED DRLs, LED headlamp, chrome accents around DLO, metal finished side step, roof mounted spoiler, body cladding, leather upholstery, unique floor mats with EQC embroidery, Burmester sound system, etc.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC Edition 1886 comes with a flexible charging setup. It has an on-board water-cooled charger with 7.4 kW output which can be used with home and public charging docks. The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox charger will be 3x faster though than a domestic socket. With a DC charging setup, the EQC can be charged with a maximum output of 110 kW. The EQC comes with a NEDC 80 kWh battery producing 408 HP of power and 760 Nm of torque matched to 2 asynchronous motors with all-wheel-drive system. The SUV can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.1 seconds and has a battery weight of 652 kg. The range claim for the EQC SUV is 445 – 471 km / full charge as per the NEDC cycle.

It remains to be seen how much premium the Mercedes-Benz EQC Edition 1886 will command over the GLC SUV.
