Mercedes-Benz GLE gets 5-stars at Euro NCAP crash test

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has undergone Euro NCAP crash tests and the SUV has managed to receive a full 5-star rating for safety. The model tested was a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d 4Matic AMG Line with left-hand drive and the SUV has 5-doors and tips the scale at 2235 kg. 

According to the safety report from the Euro NCAP, the SUV had a host of safety features such as frontal driver and passenger airbag, seat belt pretensioner, seat belt load limiter, knee airbag, side head airbag, side chest airbag, side pelvis airbag, Airbag cut-off switch for the passenger, Seat Belt Reminder,  automatic emergency braking for pedestrians and cyclist, speed assistance system and lane assist system.

The GLE has received a 91% rating in the adult occupancy test, 90% for child occupants, 78% for vulnerable road users and 78% for safety assistance systems. The ratings are valid for Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d, 350d, 400d and the GLE 450 with both right-hand drive ad left-hand drive configurations. The diesel models come with a 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre engines and the petrol engine comes with a 3.0-litre engine. 

The new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLE has been introduced internationally and is expected to come to our market by the end of this year.

The current Mercedes-Benz GLE in India is powered by:-

  • GLE 250 d 4MATIC with an output 204 HP and torque of 500 Nm
  • GLE 350d 4MATIC with an output of 258 HP and torque of 620 Nm
  • GLE 400 4MATIC with an output of 333 HP and torque of 480 Nm

The engines come paired with a 9G-Tronic the world’s first 9-speed automatic transmission with hydrodynamic torque converter, in the segment. The SUV also gets a 4Matic all-wheel drive system and 5 Dynamic Select Modes as standard.
