Mercedes-Benz G-Class G350d variant launched at INR 1.5 crore

Celebrating the 40th birthday, Mercedes-Benz has launched the G350d diesel variant of the G-Class in India. The G-Wagon as we all know it is now 40 years old, and the G350d has been priced at INR 1.5 crore ex-showroom, pan India. Another bit to note, is that the Star Ease service package for the new G350d starts at INR 79,500 for 2 years. This diesel variant of the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class is the most efficient G model ever, and is also BSVI compliant.

Powering the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class G350d is a 2.0L, in-line, 6-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor producing 286 HP of peak power between 1200-3200 RPM and 600 Nm of torque between 2500-3500 RPM. The engine comes matched to a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox with 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The AWD system distributes torque 60% to the rear and 40% to the front. Mercedes-Benz claims that the G350d can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 199 kmph.

Mercedes-Benz is also offering the G maufaktur customization package in India with the 2019 G-Class. Customers can select between colours of Nappa leather, exterior paint options, dual tone finishes, alloy wheels, interior trims and a total of minimum 100 hours will be spend on building 1 G-Class to suit tailormade requirements of the customer.

The G-Class is a fully capable luxury SUV with an iconic body style since 40 years. This SUV boasts a ladder-type frame made of high-strength steel and a body which is mounted on top made of composite materials. Even the body shell of the G-Class makes use of various steel materials and components like the doors, bonnet and wings are built of aluminium.

Mercedes-Benz also has the AMG variant of the G-Class in India which was launched last year. There is no direct rival to the G-Class from any manufacturer. No other car in the luxury SUV segment matches the character and charisma of the G-Wagon, only the Land Rover Defender comes close.
