Mercedes-Benz India has launched the EQS SUV 580 4MATIC at an ex-showroom price of INR 1.41 crore. This launch marks a milestone as the second locally produced electric vehicle (EV) by the luxury automaker in India, following the EQS sedan.
The EQS SUV 580 4MATIC is produced at Mercedes-Benz’s state-of-the-art facility in Pune, making India the first country outside the United States to manufacture this electric SUV locally. This aligns with the Indian government’s Make-in-India initiative, aiming to boost local manufacturing and promote sustainable mobility solutions.
Under the hood, the EQS SUV 580 4MATIC is powered by a robust 118 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive output of 537 horsepower and 858 Nm of torque. The dual electric motors, positioned at each axle, enable the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. The vehicle boasts an ARAI-certified range of up to 809 kilometers on a single charge, making it one of the most efficient electric SUVs in its class.
The EQS SUV 580 4MATIC showcases Mercedes-Benz’s signature aerodynamic design, characterized by a sleek black-panel grille, angular LED headlamps, and a horizontal LED light strip. The interior is equally impressive, featuring the MBUX Hyperscreen that spans the entire dashboard, integrating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen. The SUV offers a spacious seven-seat configuration, leather upholstery, five-zone climate control, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety and comfort.
Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director and CEO, Santosh Iyer, emphasized the company’s commitment to the Indian market and its focus on promoting electrification. “The localisation of the EQS SUV underpins our deep commitment to grow the Indian luxury electric car market and reinforce our commitment for a greener and sustainable future,” Iyer stated. The launch of the EQS SUV 580 4MATIC is expected to bolster the company’s presence in the luxury EV segment and cater to the growing demand for high-end electric vehicles in India.
