According to a media report, the Mercedes-Benz electric sedan ‘EQE’ is scheduled to be introduced in 2022. Mercedes-Benz is planning to make 10 electric models and EQE will be one of them. Mercedes-Benz has already introduced the EQC and next year the brand is expected to introduce the EQA and EQV followed by the EQE. According to a media report, some documents have been made public by the Chinese Ministry of Information Technology, which refers to the EQE under the codename V295.
The EQE will be the second car from the Mercedes Benz MEA electric car platform and will be positioned below the most luxurious EQS that is expected in 2021. The MEA platform will make use of aluminium and will give the electric cars a flat floor which will provide the car with a spacious cabin. It is also speculated by some that the EQE will be smaller than the E-Class sibling but will have more cabin space.
The features on the EQE will include an active air suspension, four-wheel steering, level-3 autonomous driving and more. The design lines are expected to be based on the facelift E-Class and the EV will be aerodynamically designed and is expected to sit low to the ground.
The powertrain on the electric vehicle is expected to produce 407 Hp of power and 764 Nm of torque and the range is expected to be around 600 km on a single charge. The electric cars are expected to get four-wheel drive, powered by two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear. A pure rear wheel drive model is also being conceptualized but will only be introduced in 2022.
The EQA, EQB, EQC and EQV are based on the existing platforms such as A-class, GLB (upcoming), GLC, V-Class respectively.
