With 2014 coming to an end, Mercedes-Benz is all set to kick-start the next year with multiple product launches. The first car to be launched in 2015 will be the CLA sedan.
While the CLA45 AMG already made it to the Indian streets in mid-2014, the regular petrol and diesel variants are expected to be available only in 2015. Mercedes is planning to launch the CLA in India in January, next month. Insider news suggests that dealers are soon going to open bookings for this upcoming product.
Based on the MFA platform, the CLA sedan is nothing but the A-Class hatchback slapped with a boot. When launched, the CLA will lock horns with the popular, and first mover in the segment, the Audi A3.
Expected trim levels on the Mercedes-Benz CLA is the ‘200’ variant. The CLA 200 will be available in both petrol and diesel powered engines and will be brought to India via the CBU route. This could be a deterrent for the CLA sales since the locally assembled Audi A3 is brilliantly priced.
The Audi A3 sedan is priced almost at par with the A-Class, so expect Mercedes to price the CLA sedan reasonably above this price bracket.
