German marque, Mercedes-Benz has launched the CLA 45 AMG in India priced at Rs. 68.50 lakh (Ex-Showroom Delhi).
The CLA 45 AMG is the smallest AMG-powered model, and the seventh AMG model launched by the company here in India.
The CLA 45 AMG is powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, direct injection, turbocharged petrol engine pumping 355 BHP of power and 450 Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims that this is the world’s most powerful 4-cylinder engine with a 0 – 100 kmph speed run in just 4.6 seconds. The car is mated to the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission with three driving modes — C (Controlled efficiency), S (Sport) and 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Top speed has been electronically limited at 250 kmph.
The CLA is basically a sedan version of the A-Class hatchback. As of now, only AMG version will be on sale. The regular CLA sedan is expected to reach the showrooms in about six months’ time.
The CLA 45 AMG gets aggressively styled bumpers to match the AMG badge with larger air intakes and a splitter at the bottom, twin-slat radiator grille with the three pointed star, red brake calipers, 18″ 5-twin-spoke two tone alloy wheels, frameless doors and a diffuser under the rear bumper.
On the inside, the dashboard is similar to the A-Class hatchback, but the AMG steering wheel is in Alcantara trim, red stitching on the upholstery, a different instrument cluster and the typical stubby AMG gear selector. Front seats are electrically adjustable and get heating functionality.
Safety features include pre-safe, 3-stage ESP and ESP Curve Dynamic Assist, TPMS and bi-xenon headlamps.
