Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine Review

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new A-Class at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi. The new A-Class is now a sedan which the brand refers to as ‘Limousine’ and at the Auto Expo 2020, Mercedes-Benz showcased the sporty sedan in the A35 AMG guise. While COVID-19 did delay the launch of the A-Class Limousine in the Indian market the brand plans to make its market debut on 25th March 2021. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class will come in the A200 (Petrol) and the A200d (Diesel) guise as well as the sporty A35 AMG. In this video review, we got our hands behind the steering wheel of the A200d (Diesel) and here are the exterior and interiors details of the car along with its features, engine options, the rear seating space and how the A-Class Limousine drives in the city as well as out on the highway.

Dimensions

The A-Class hatchback days are gone and Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine is now a sedan with a proper boot. The brand claims that the A-Class Limousine is also roomier than the Mercedes-Benz CLA which the new car replaces. In terms of dimensions, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine measures 4549mm in length, 1796mm in width, 1446mm in height, 2729mm of the wheelbase and 405 litres of boot space. To put things into perspective the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe measures 4526mm in length, 1800mm in width, 1420mm in height and comes with 2670mm of wheelbase.

Powertrain

Powering the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine is a 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 163 Hp of power and 250 Nm of torque with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission on the A200 which is the entry-level model. The A200d comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel that pumps out 150 Hp of power and 350 Nm of torque with a new 8-speed DCT automatic. The A-Class A35 AMG comes with a 2.0-litre petrol motor that makes 306 Hp of power and 400 Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with a 4Matic all-wheel drivetrain. The A200 and A200d come with a front-wheel-drive architecture. Mercedes-Benz also claims that the A200 Petrol returns a fuel efficiency of 17.50 kmpl and the A200d Diesel returns 21.35 kmpl of mileage.

Features

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class comes in a single fully-loaded trim and offers features such as a panoramic 10.25-inch twin-screen system for the instruments cluster and infotainment system, latest generation connected car tech with Mercedes Me, Amazon Alexa integration, wireless smartphone charging, Automatic LED headlamps, powered front seats with memory function, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, rear air conditioning vents, cruise control and a plethora of active and passive safety features including multiple airbags, rear-view camera and Active Brake Assist with autonomous emergency braking.

Warranty & Price

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine come with a standard three-year warranty along with an eight-year warranty on the engine and transmission. The warranty on the car is transferable and when the owner wishes to upgrade to a new car the remainder of the warranty is transferred to the new owner which retains the vehicle’s residual value. The A-Class Limousine will arrive in the Indian market via the CKD route and is likely to be priced around the INR 40 to 42 lakh mark.
