Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 6th-generation long-wheelbase E-Class. The V214 long-wheelbase will first go on sale in China followed by the Indian market. The Indian launch is expected to happen sometime in the H2 2024.
In terms of dimensions, the new long-wheelbase E-Class comes in at 5,092 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,493 mm tall. The wheelbase now measures 3,094 mm, which is longer than the current E-Class on sale in India.
Overall, the design matches the regular 6th-generation model. However, the rear doors are now stretched and the wheelbase is noticeably longer. The insides are the same as the regular car which includes the Mercedes Superscreen layout. This includes a large 14.4-inch touchscreen in the middle, a passenger screen and a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver.
In terms of features, the new 6th-gen LWB E-Class will come with powered rear seats, rear seat ottoman function, air suspension and rear wheel steering amongst others.
Mercedes is offering a 6-cylinder petrol engine in the Chinese market. However, in India, we can expect the German carmaker to offer both 4 and 6-cylinder engines with a choice of petrol or diesel options.
The German carmaker delivered 12,768 units in Jan-Sept 2023. In the same period last year, the company reported 11,469 units. This means a growth of 11 percent. According to the company, there is strong demand for the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, AMG and EQS range. This segment witnessed a growth of 22 percent and currently consists of a quarter of the total Mercedes sales.
Mean products like C-Class, E-Class EWB, GLC and GLE SUV continue to be the main sales force for the brand. The festive season in India is also a reason to cheer for the company which expects strong sales in this period as well.
