Mercedes-AMG GT revealed

Mercedes-Benz has revealed its upcoming flagship sports car from its performance AMG division. Dubbed as the Mercedes-AMG GT, the car will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The Mercedes-AMG GT will be available in two variants, GT and GT S. Both these variants will be powered by the new AMG M178 V8, 3,982cc, bi-turbo engine mated to a dual clutch automatic transmission. Power output for the GT variant is 456 BHP and 600 Nm of torque, while the GT S pumps out 503 BHP of power and 650 Nm of torque. The claimed 0-100 kmph sprint is at 3.7 seconds and 3.9 seconds for the GT S and GT variants respectively. Top speed is electronically limited for the GT at 304 kmph and 310 kmph for the GT S. It also gets an electro-mechanical steering wheel and a rear axle differential lock on the GT S.

Typical of sports cars, the Mercedes-AMG GT comes with a long bonnet, raked front windscreen and a sweeping roofline. Front grille design language is comparable to other Mercedes-Benz models and gets a single chrome slat and a ‘Three Pointed Star’ in between. LED headlamps with DRLs, sleek LED tail lamps, an active rear spoiler, air vents on the front fenders and beefed up front wheel arches are to be seen. The GT rides on 9×19”, 10-spoke alloy wheels at the front and 11×19” alloy wheels at the back. The GT S variant rides on 9×19” alloys at the front and 11×20” alloys at the back.

Safety and assistance features on offer include Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Adaptive Brake, Attention Assist, Parktronic, rear-view Camera, Pre-Safe system and the tire pressure monitoring system. Lane Tracking package with Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist is available as an option. The Mercedes-AMG GT comes with three-point seat belts with tensioners and belt force limiters, front airbags, combined thorax / pelvis side bags, window airbags and knee airbags.
