Meet the Suzuki WagonR Smile, like it?

Suzuki has introduced the new WagonR Smile in the Japanese market. The new Suzuki WagonR Smile comes with a quirky design language and features sliding doors to improve the ingress and egress of the vehicle. The car is also taller than the standard WagonR. The WagonR Smile will retail starting at JPY 1,296,900 MSRP in Japan. Depending on the model the price can go up to JPY 1,716,000 MSRP which is close to INR 11.45 lakh. The brand has announced that the WagonR Smile will make its market debut in Japan on 10th September 2021 and the brand targets sales of around 5,000 units per month.

Suzuki WagonR Smile – Design Highlights

The Suzuki WagonR Smile comes with a quirky design language and mini-van styling. The car features sliding rear doors that help in the ingress and egress of passengers. The car features rounded headlamps on the front with chrome trim and a chrome studded radiator grille. The car features a flat and upright front fascia with rounded fog lamps positioned low on the bumper. The Smile also comes with a double A-pillar with a glass set between and a contrast-colour roof. The WagonR Smile also features vertical taillamps and chrome trim on the tailgate.

Suzuki WagonR Smile – Dimensions

The compact van measures 3,395mm in length, 1,475mm in width, 1,695mm in height. The WagonR Smile comes with a wheelbase of 2,460mm. The WagonR Smile comes with 150mm of ground clearance and weighs 840 kg. The car can seat 4 passengers according to the Suzuki official website. Compared to the standard model the Smile is 45mm taller allowing more headroom in the cabin.

Suzuki WagonR Smile – Engine Specifications

Powering the WagonR Smile is an R06D type 657cc water-cooled in-line three-cylinder 12 valve DOHC engine. The engine produces 49 PS of power and 58 Nm of torque. The van is available in 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive options with a CVT gearbox. The car also comes with an idling stop device with a charge control hybrid system.
