Porsche has revealed the first special edition of the Taycan, the Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition. The new special edition marks the 90th anniversary of Hockenheimring. The Hockenheimring Edition gets changes to the exterior and interior along with some unique touches. Porsche says that with the special edition of the Taycan, they not only are delighting the fans of the all-electric sports car but also highlighting its attachment to the Hockenheimring. Additionally, Porsche will display the Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition as a show car at the track during the anniversary year.
Additionally, the owners of the special edition Taycan will also get special perks at the racetrack. These include access to the Porsche Experience Centre Hockenheimring and preferential parking at the Porsche’s monthly gatherings. At the racetrack, owners can also avail of free charging for two years. Because of all the perks tailored around the racetrack, the anniversary edition will only be available in Germany and select European markets.
The Hockenheimring opened with a motorcycle race event back on 29th May 1932. Initially, the Hockenheimring featured a triangular circuit. The Hockenheimring’s layout saw a change in 1938 when it was given its oval shape. With the new shape, it became a high-speed circuit. 2nd August 1970 saw the first-ever Formula One race held at the Hockenheimring. The Hockenheimring is pursuing its vision of developing into a modern mobility showcase in the coming future. The guiding theme of the anniversary is ‘Mobile evolution’, which describes the transfer of the past into the future. Meanwhile, ‘Traditional elegance’ expresses Porsche’s exclusivity and long tradition.
The Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition comes with a unique Stone Grey paintwork. The paintwork comes under Porsche’s custom colour programme and gets Bronzite accents to make it even more unique. The paintwork is reserved for the special edition in the current model year of the Taycan. Another highlight is the 21-inch Mission E Design wheels finished in satin Bronzite. However, the surrounding edge of the wheel features a Stone Grey finish to make it more exclusive. Additionally, there are many more Bronzite accents throughout the exterior. To further point out the exclusive character of this Taycan GTS, it gets the ’90 Jahre Hockenheimring’ anniversary logo on the B-pillar.
As for the interiors, it gets a black leather upholstery with contrasting Island Green stitching. Meanwhile, the decorative trim for the car comes in Paldao open-pore wood. The design of the open-pore wood gives it a classic design flair. The steering wheel of the Taycan GTS now also features a Bronzite trim. Additionally, the steering wheel gets an Island Green marking at the 12 o’clock position.
Other unique features also include an embossed Hockenheimring logo at the lid of the centre storage compartment. The door projectors also display an anniversary logo on the floor. Highlighting the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s attention to detail is the vehicle key. The key features a Stone Grey colour and a high-quality laser engraving of the anniversary logo.
