Benelli has extended its adventure motorcycle lineup for the Chinese market with the introduction of the TRK 702. Though currently available only in China, it will eventually find its way to other markets. When it does, it will go up against bikes like the Kawasaki Versys 650, Aprilia Tuareg 660, Yamaha Tenere 700 and Triumph Tiger Sport 660.
In China, pricing for the Benelli TRK 702 starts at CNY 46,800 and goes up to CNY 50,800. This roughly translates to INR 5.4 lakh to INR 5.9 lakhs. However, these prices exclude taxes.
As far as styling goes, the latest adventure motorcycle from Benelli looks similar to its smaller sibling, the TRK 502. The TRK 702 gets a muscular design, chunky bodywork and an upswept exhaust. Like a typical adventure motorcycle, it also gets a fairly tall stance. It gets new split-LED headlights, a visor for wind protection and also a beak at the front.
Another highlight is the integrated HD camera below the headlight. Benelli says this will let riders record their rides or off-road adventures. Additionally, it will also act as a dashcam and provide video evidence in case of a road accident or insurance claim. Other features include an LCD instrument cluster and heated grips and seat.
Additionally, like the TRK 502, the TRK 702 also comes in two variants. One is more road-focused, while the other is more off-road-oriented. Similar to the TRK 502 and TRK 502X. The former gets road-biased tyres and 17-inch wheels at both ends. Meanwhile, the other version gets a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel and dual-purpose tyres.
Powering the TRK 702 is a 693cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder motor. It churns out 75 BHP at 8,500 rpm and 68.2 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. It uses a 6-speed gearbox and also benefits from a slipper clutch.
As for suspension and brakes, it uses upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. As for the brakes, it gets twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. Also standard is Dual-Channel ABS. The TRK 702 also gets a large 20-litre fuel tank for less frequent stops when going long distances.
