Maybach brand to be revived, based on the S-Class

The Maybach limousine is all set to make its return in the luxury car market in the coming months. After months of speculation and spyshots of the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class, official images have been shared of the upcoming car.

The Maybach will be a sub brand which will be based on the current generation S-Class. Variants of the Maybach will be as follows:

  • S 600: Powered by a 6.0L, V12 engine producing 530 BHP of power
  • S 500: Powered by a 4.7L, V8 engine producing 455 BHP of power and 700 Nm of torque
  • S 400 4MATIC: Powered by a 3.0L, V6 engine producing 333 BHP of power and 480 Nm of torque

The S 600 is expected to make its debut on 18 December, 2014.

Maybach models will be differentiated from the regular S-Class models with the help of new front grille, longer rear doors, badging, electronically adjustable rear seats etc.

Once launched, the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 will fight against the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II & Bentley Flying Spur V12. It will also form the base for a S 600 Pullman which can be expected later in 2015.
