Maserati reveals GranTurismo Zeda

Maserati has revealed the GranTurismo Zèda to celebrate the final day of production of the GranTurismo model for the exotic car manufacturer. The brand claims that Zeda will bridge the gap between past, present and future and this GranTurismo Zèda will be an iconic car moving forward in the world of automobiles. The GranTurismo Zèda, ‘Z’ in Modena dialect will pay homage to the brands rich heritage. The brand has already started working on their plant in Modena which will produce new high-performance sports cars and the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models will now stand discontinued. The GranTurismo Zèda is a special edition model.

The new GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be produced at the Turin manufacturing facility and will begin a new era of electric Maserati cars. The first model to come out would be using 100% electric process in the brands history for the first time. Maserati will slowly move forward towards electric cars and autonomous driving cars.

The dual tone paint finish of the GranTurismo Zèda with a shade of blue at the front fading into greyscale and then metallic silver towards the rear looks very unique. The Maserati blue dominates the front fascia and it is hard to guess the dual tone effect if looked at the car only from the front.

At Modena, where the production has ended for the GranTurismo and GranCabrio, a new production line will be set up which will be catering to a high-performance super sports model and will be showcased in 2020. A new paint shop is also being commissioned which will be environmentally friendly and this paint booth would also allow potential customers to come and watch the paint process of their exotic cars.

The Maserati GranTurismo has been in the market since 2007 and this 4-seater, 2-door coupe designed by Pininfarina sports a naturally-aspirated 8-cylinder petrol motor. This car took inspiration from the 1947 Maserati A6 1500 and has been in the market for over a decade, but still loved by car enthusiasts. The GranCabrio debuted in 2009.

The MY18 version of the Maserati GranTurismo was the final version developed by the brand which improved the aerodynamics, ergonomics and the infotainment system along with the coupe getting 16 body colour options, 14 alloy wheel designs and 9 colour options for the brake calipers. Maserati also offered the Sport and MC (Maserati Corse) variants on the MY18 GranTurismo. The 4.7L, V8 engine from Ferrari produced 460 HP of power and 520 Nm of torque.

Maserati have sold more than 40,000 units of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio combined since 2007, this includes 28,805 units of the  GranTurismo and 11,715 units of the GranCabrio.
