Maserati announced the Project24 a few months ago. Back then, Maserati showed us only a few of the official sketches. But now, the Italian brand has shown us a few more illustrations of its limited edition track-only hypercar. Maserati aims to highlight its ‘Fuoriserie’ customisation program with these new images. Nonetheless, we get to see the Project24 in a new colour as well as get to know additional details about Maserati’s customisation program.
Since the Project24 will have a limited production run of 62 units, it takes advantage of the most custom-built level, says Maserati. The Italian brand will build each one of the Project24 hypercars according to the preferences of the respectful owner.
The new sketches show the Project24 in a dark-blue colour option. We also have a lot of exposed carbon fibre. Being a track-only car, we also see lots of aerodynamic bits. Meanwhile, the doors and the mirror caps feature the Italian flag.
The Italian brand’s track-only hypercar uses the standard MC20 supercar as its base. Both also share the same carbon fibre tub. However, since the Project24 is not road-legal, it gets an all-new carbon fibre body. This makes it looks more radical than even the MC20 GT2 racecar.
Because it is a track-only car, it is not limited by road regulations. Hence, Maserati was able to create something unique that was only limited by their imagination. Thus, the Project24 looks aggressive even when standing still. It gets slim LED headlights that sit lower in the bumper, a large scoop in the bonnet and bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels with a centre-locking mechanism. The Project24 also gets an F1-style central fin. This leads to a massive spoiler and the trident-shaped LED taillights. Maserati has not revealed any sketches of the interior.
Powering the Project24 is the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo Nettuno V6 as the MC20. However, in the Project24, it makes 730 HP of power. The engine sends power to the rear wheels using a new 6-speed sequential gearbox. It also gets a mechanical limited-slip differential. The hypercar tips the scales under 1,250 kg. This, combined with the power output, results in a power-to-weight ratio of 1.69 kg/hp.
