Maserati project ‘Rekall’ is all that we want!

Maserati took to the social media to show the renders of its new concept car ‘Project Rekall’. The new Project Rekall will be based on the coupe from the 90’s Shamal.

The overall outlook and design remain the same, the old-school boxy bodywork with sharp contour lines and squared edges. The headlights are an all-LED setup with DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) with a redesigned aggressive bumper giving the sedan a  sportier stance. The exhausts have been reworked and roof rails have been added to the car. The concept car is unlikely to hit the streets in this skin, but we would love it if Maserati wishes to do so.

In the interiors, the simplistic design of the ’90s is retained and few modern pieces of equipment are added. The bucket seats and a manga-style all-digital instrument cluster give a striking impression and upon close scrutiny, we also see a gold plated accelerator pedal that matches with the gold Maserati badge on the horn pad. A perfect mix of retro and modern outlook.

Details on the engine specifications are still scarce at the moment, but we understand it will be in tune with that of Shamal. It was powered by a 3.2-litre twin-turbo V8 making 326 PS of power and 432 Nm of torque which was mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Quite impressive figures back in the ’90s. The ‘Project Rekall’ if made into production will very likely to have a similar powertrain as that in the Shamal.

The Maserati’s FuoriSerie program is the place where Maserati showcases their concept cars. It started off from Ghibli, Levante, and Quattroportea all hitting the streets, though every render made by them doesn’t necessarily end up in the showrooms.

In India, Maserati has 5 models to offer starting from INR 1.31 Crore for the Ghibli and INR 1.64 Crore for Maserati Quattroporte in the sedan segment, then Levante for INR 1.50 Crore in the SUV segment. Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio for INR 2.25 Crore and INR 2.68 Crore respectively. All prices are ex-showroom prices.
