FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) Group is keen on bringing back the Maserati brand in India by mid-2015. The company firmly believes that there is a strong opportunity here in India with the number of super-rich on a fast incline.
The Maserati brand will open a national sales company for India and is currently appointing a 8-member team for this. Dealerships will be planned soon as the company intends to commence sales from the second half of 2015.
Although the super luxury car segment is shrinking this year, the company is optimistic about growth once present in India. Also, the taxes and excise duties in India currently shoot the car prices out of reach for many of the potential customers; and this needs to be revised too.
The Maserati operations in India shut down in 2012-13 and are planning for a comeback just after a year of absence.
The company hasn’t announced the line-up for India, but we can expect almost all models to make it here which include the entry level Ghibli, Quattroporte, GranTurismo and GranCabrio.
