Maruti Suzuki has launched the WagonR with a BSVI compliant 1.0L motor, which makes for the entry-level trim for this popular mass market hatchback. The BSVI compliant variants have seen a price hike of around INR 8,000 which seems pretty much justified for the technology that goes in. Prices for the WagonR 1.0L BSVI variants start from INR 4.42 lakh ex-showroom.
Price List: (ex-showroom Delhi)
The BSVI compliant 998cc, 3-cylinder, K10B motor produces 50 kW of peak power @ 5500 RPM and 90 Nm of peak torque on the petrol trims. The same engine bought with a CNG kit produces 43.5 kW of peak power @ 5500 RPM and 78 Nm of peak torque @ 3500 RPM. Engine is matched to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. The updated model now claims a fuel efficiency of 21.79 kmpl, which is lower than the BS4 version which claimed 22.5 kmpl.
Maruti Suzuki also retails the WagonR with a higher capacity 1.2L petrol engine, along with AMT option.
The WagonR has been loved by the Indian audience for the practicality in terms of space and just of easy the car is to maintain. With this marginal increase in price, there would be no difference in the sales performance of this tall boy hatchback in our market. Maruti Suzuki has slowly transitioned almost all of their high selling products into BSVI compliant ahead of the timeline.
