In the financial year 23-24, Maruti Suzuki is witnessing an increase in demand for the Wagon R’s two-pedal models. It seems that there has been a 20% increase in the demand for the two-pedal option over the previous financial year, and its AMT model, in particular, is in demand.

It seems that there has been a 20% increase in the demand for the two-pedal option over the previous financial year. The demand is increasing for both engine options. However, the 1.0-litre models are more in demand.
For 1.0-litre engine models, the AMT, or AGS as Maruti refers to it, is only available in the VXi trim. On the other hand, for 1.2-litre engine variants, it is available in the ZXi and ZXi+ trims. The only difference between the VXi MT and VXi AMT is the price of INR 45000.
The 1.0-litre petrol engine unit generates 65 bhp of power and 89 Nm. At the same time, the CNG engine produces 55 bhp of power and 82 Nm of torque. The petrol variant also comes with a five-speed AMT, although the normal gearbox is a five-speed MT. Both a five-speed MT and a five-speed AMT are available for the more potent 1.2-litre engine, which generates 88 bhp and 113 Nm of torque.
WagonR got the AMT option in November 2015:
WagonR was launched in India on December 18, 1999, and with this, it has completed 25 years in the Indian Market. Since its late 1999 introduction, 32 lakh units have been sold till date. The current generation vehicle received an update in 2022 after being introduced in India in early 2019. But in November 2015, it was given a two-pedal option for the first time, making it the second vehicle after the first-generation Celerio to have an AMT.
