Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sales cross 5 lakh units in 47 months

Written by Parichay Malvankar

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been a popular compact-SUV ever since it was launched in our market. A sub-4 metre 5-seater SUV, the Vitara Brezza is sold via the Maruti Suzuki Arena showrooms and slots below the S-Cross crossover which is sold via Nexa outlets. Now, the brand has revealed that the Vitara Brezza has crossed the 5 lakh unit sales milestone. This makes it the only compact-SUV to achieve this feat in just 47 months since launch. The Vitara Brezza has been designed in India and had made a debut at the 2016 Auto Expo.

At the moment, in the BS4 guise, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza comes only in a diesel engine option. However, going forward, with the BS6 implementation, the Vitara Brezza could very well become a petrol-powered SUV as the brand plans to ditch the 1.3L Fiat-sourced engine since it does not comply with the future emission  norms. Maruti Suzuki offers the Vitara Brezza in manual and AMT gearbox options currently.

Features on this compact-SUV which made it very popular include LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control, dual tone paint scheme, projector headlamps, colour options for the speedometer cluster, etc. The compact-SUV comes with features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, ISOFIX, reverse parking sensors, front seat belt pre-tensioners with force limiters as standard kit.

The Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki rivals the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon & Mahindra XUV300. With the diesel powertrain, the Vitara Brezza has maintained steady sales even with increasing competition. But with a mid-life makeover and a new petrol motor to be plonked under the hood, it remains to be seen how Maruti Suzuki positions this compact-SUV.
