Maruti Suzuki has garnered over 40,000 bookings for the Swift hatchback in the Indian market. The brand launched the fourth-generation Swift in May 2024. Now, it not even a month from its launch, the Swift has bagged over 40,000 bookings. The brand has also sold close to 19,000 units already and still the brand has not even launched the CNG Bi-Fuel variant of the Swift. All the numbers are from the petrol model of the Swift.
For a petrol only model the car has obtained very good sales traction which is likely to improve further when Maruti launches the CNG variant. Also, manual transmission variants consist of the 83% of the total bookings. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is available in an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) avatar as well.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift in its fourth-generation features a new Z12E engine. The brand has deleted one cylinder from the predecessor while keeping the displacement the same. However, the new engine claims to be lighter and 14% more efficient than its predecessor. The new engine also claims a mileage of 25.75 kmpl. Also, the 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine produces 81.58 PS of power and 111.7 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
The new Swift also comes with features such as LED headlamps, LED DRLs and LED Taillamps. The car also comes with Automatic headlamps Automatic headlamps. The Swift gets a digital MID in between analogue tachometer and speedometer. However, the brand offers a fully automatic climate control and rear AC vents on the new Swift.
For safety and to keep the weight in check the new Swift also uses Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) and offers 6-airbags as standard. The car is also produces only 95.6 grams of CO2 emission per km which is 47% less than the first generation Swift.
