Maruti Suzuki sold over 1 lakh CNG vehicles in FY 2019-20

At the 15th edition of the Auto Expo Maruti Suzuki’s pavilion complete with Japanese Origami art, highlighted its CNG and Hybrid vehicles under the ‘Mission Green Million’ theme which is in line with the brand’s commitment towards a greener and eco-friendly technologies for India. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has now announced that the company has sold 106,443 factory-fitted CNG vehicles across India thus achieving the highest ever sales of eco-friendly CNG-powered cars in FY 2019-20.

The S-CNG powered cars along with BS6 conformity is in-line with the Government of India’s new stringent emission policies and the brand’s ‘Mission Green Million’ which is its commitment towards clean, green, eco-friendly mobility solutions which the company aims to sell the next set of million green vehicles at a much faster pace. 

The S-CNG vehicles are also aligned with the Government of India’s vision of reducing oil import and enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country which is currently at 6.2% to 15% by the year 2030. The Government of India is also increasing CNG connectivity and has installed 477 CNG stations on average in the last year showing of 56% growth, as compared to the 156 stations average in the last 5 years. 

To achieve this commitment the brand offers its customers widest options of factory-fitted CNG-powered cars including Alto, WagonR, Eeco, Tour S, Ertiga and Super Carry. The latest to be launched in the line-up is the Super Carry, which is the first light commercial vehicle (LCV) to be launched in the BS6 avatar along with a Flex-Fuel (petrol+CNG) powertrain. 

All the Maruti Suzuki S-CNG vehicles are factory fitted kits and feature dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and intelligent injection systems and are specially tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance and driveability. The factory-fitted CNG kits benefit from Maruti Suzuki’s warranty as well as the brand’s convenience of service network across India.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has also announced that the brand has observed 15.5% CAGR increase in its CNG sales in the past five years.
