Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest car manufacturer claims to sell 1.57 lakh factory-fitted S-CNG vehicles. To offer the customer’s environment-friendly, safe and fuel-efficient vehicles, Maruti Suzuki introduced multiple CNG vehicles in its portfolio. The current factory-fitted lineup of cars from Maruti Suzuki includes Alto, Celerio, WagonR, S-Presso, Eeco, Ertiga, Tour S and Super Carry. CNG fuel offers an alternative to petrol and diesel along with contributing towards green mobility. The current CNG technology and infrastructure in the country is in a much better position when compared to the last 5 years. Thus, people are finding CNG powered vehicles more economical, given the rising petrol and diesel prices. With the Government of India’s clear focus to encourage CNG as an alternative to petrol or diesel, the demand for CNG vehicles will grow at a very fast pace.
Maruti Suzuki claims that its factory-fitted CNG vehicles have some key advantages. Under the vehicle performance parameter, there are two aspects. First is the equipped Intelligent Injection System and second is the Retuned Chassis Suspension and Braking System. Both these are calibrated in the factory, to improve the CNG vehicle’s performance as a whole. To improve the safety aspect, the company claims to use stainless steel pipes and joints, an integrated harness, a micro switch that assures that the vehicle does not start during the CNG filling process and more. To add to the convenience of the owners, Maruti Suzuki is offering an extended warranty of up to 5 years and a wide service network. The equipped NGV receptacle aids in faster and safer CNG refuelling thus, improving the safety of the occupants.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is increasingly expanding the CNG stations across the country. As per reports, despite the nationwide lockdown, more than 700 stations came up in FY 2020-21. Currently, there are a total of 2,800 CNG stations across the country. As per estimation reports the figure will grow to 10,000 in the next 7-8 years.
