Maruti Suzuki sold 1,72,535 cars in January 2023

The monthly sales report for Maruti Suzuki is now out. For the month of January 2023, India’s largest carmaker posted a total sales of 1,72,535 units. In comparison to the same month in previous year, i.e. January 2022, domestic sales stood at 154,379 units. Meanwhile, the sales to other OEMs stood at 3,775 units. The export figure for the company stood at 17,393 units for the given period. Maruti Suzuki did tell us the fact that there is a shortage of electronic components. However, it had a minor impact on the production of vehicles. It was mainly for the domestic models. However, Maruti Suzuki mentioned that the company is taking all the necessary measures to minimise the impact and ramp up production.

Maruti Suzuki’s Detailed Sales breakup

For the Mini segment that comprises S-Presso and Alto, the company sold a total of 25,446 units. Meanwhile, in the Compact segment, which accounts for the maximum sales, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 73,840 units. This segment includes the top sellers like Swift, Dzire, Baleno Celerio, Ignis, Tour S, and WagonR.

Sales for Maruti Suzuki’s mid-size segment offering, for which we only have the Ciaz, stood at 1,000 units. In the Utility vehicles segment, which includes Ertiga, Brezza S-Cross and XL6, Maruti Suzuki sold 35,353 units. Eeco, which falls under the Van segment, sold a total of 11,709 units of sales. Adding all, Maruti Suzuki posted a total sales of 147,348 units for its entire passenger vehicle segment in the Indian domestic market.

Super Carry, which falls under the Light Commercial Vehicle segment, sold a total of 4,019 units. Thus, measuring both passenger and light commercial vehicles, the total Domestic Sales for Maruti Suzuki stood at 151,367 units.

Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 25 million units in India. The 25th million car’s sale occurred on 9th January 2023. This news was announced by Maruti Suzuki’s parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation.
