Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, announced its sales report for February 2022. Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,37,607 units in the domestic market, and sales to other OEMs stood at 2,428 units. In terms of international business, the carmaker registered its highest ever monthly exports of 24,021 units. For Maruti Suzuki as well, the shortage of electronic components impacted the production of vehicles. Although, the carmaker has assured that it is taking all necessary measures to minimise the impact.
For the mini segment that comprises Alto and S-Presso, Maruti Suzuki posted a total sales of 19,691 units. The same for February 2021 stood at 23,959 units. The compact segment comprising Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR sold a total of 77,795 units. This segment makes up for the maximum sales for the carmaker. The figure for the same period last year stood at 80,517 units. Ciaz makes up for the mid-size segment that sold a total of 1,912 units. The figure rose from 1,510 units reported for February 2021. All in all, for the passenger segment, Maruti Suzuki posted a total sales of 99,398 units for February 2021.
Ertiga, Gypsy, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, and XL6 make up for the Utility Vehicles. This segment sold a total of 25,360 units for February 2022. The same for February 2021 stood at 26,884 units. In the van segment, Eeco posted a total sales of 9,190 units, down from 11,891 units for February 2021. In the commercial vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki currently sells the Super Carry. This vehicle accounted for 3,659 units of sale for February 2022, up from 2,722 for the same period last year.
Maruti Suzuki recently updated two of its top-selling products, Baleno and WagonR. Both hatchbacks play a very important role in the Indian automotive world as they sell in huge volumes. Hatchbacks have also been the stronghold for Maruti Suzuki, and these two additions further strengthen the carmaker’s command over the segment.
