Maruti Suzuki sold 1,62,462 cars in July 2021

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer in terms of volume, announces its sales report for July 2021. The car manufacturer sold a cumulative 1,62,462 units for the given period. This includes domestic sales of 1,36,500 units, sales to other OEMs of 4,738 units and exports of 21,244 units. Sales in the automotive industry are finally picking up pace after witnessing below par figures due to the 2nd wave of the pandemic.

Detailed Sales Breakup

The mini passenger vehicle segment includes the likes of Alto and S-Presso. This segment contributed to 19,684 units of sale as against 17,258 units for July 2020. The compact segment, which consists of the WagonR, WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S, sold a total of over 70,288 units. When compared to July 2020, the figure stood at 51,529 units. This is also the segment that contributed to the maximum of the sales for Maruti Suzuki.

The mid-size segment, which currently consists of the Ciaz only, sold a total of 1,450 units, as compared to 1,303 units for the same period last year. The Utility Segment includes Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6 and Gypsy. This segment contributed a total of 32,272 units, up from 19,177 units last year. Maruti Suzuki’s Eeco, which is a massive success in the commercial segment, sold a total of 10,057 units against 8,501 units for July 2020. Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 2,768 units of the Carry in the light commercial vehicle segment, as against 2,232 units for the same period last year.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki had revealed that it sold over 50 lakh cars in the rural market of India. In fact, in recent years, automotive firms are increasingly taking more interest in the rural market. The rural market of India has a lot of potentials, and slowly the market is keeping up with demand. In fact, Maruti Suzuki’s 40 per cent of sales are contributed by the rural market itself. The new Celerio is in the final phase of testing, and reports suggest it will hit showrooms in the festive season.
