Maruti Suzuki India has launched the BS6 compliant S-CNG fuel version of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso at the starting price of INR 484,000 ex-showroom, Delhi. The brand positions the S-Presso as a ‘Mini-SUV’ and is one of the most affordable cars in the brand’s portfolio. Now with the CNG fuel option, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is also one of the most fuel-efficient cars with a claimed fuel economy of 31.2 km/kg.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is powered by a BS6 emissions complaint K10B series 998cc Bi-fuel (Petrol/CNG) engine that produces 60 Hp of power and 90 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car comes with a 55-litre (water capacity) CNG fuel tank and returns a mileage of 31.2 km/kg, as mentioned above.
The Mini-SUV as the brand likes to call it, measures 3565mm in length, 1520mm in width, 1549mm in height, 2380mm of the wheelbase, tips the scales at 726 kg (without the CNG kit) and the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso can accommodate 5 people.
On the outside, the S-Presso features an SUV inspired fascia with chrome-accented grille, dual-chambered headlamps with integrated turn signals, wide air dam with a skid plate effect, side body cladding, roof antenna, body-coloured bumpers, full wheel covers, C-Shaped combination tail lamps etc.
On the inside, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes with a uniquely positioned dynamic centre console with a digital speedometer, an amber backlit LCD multi-information display, SmartPlay audio with voice control, power window buttons on the centre, steering mounted audio controls, utility spaces, high seating position, dual-tone seat upholstery, AC with heater, power steering, and safety features such as a driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder, reverse parking sensor, speed alert, pedestrian protection and other automotive standard safety compliance systems.
The S-CNG models from the brand are in-line with its commitment towards a cleaner and greener future and the brand announced the same at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo 2020 under its ‘Mission Green Million’ which is committed towards the sale of 1 million energy-efficient CNG fuel and hybrid vehicles. The brand has sold 106,443 factory-fitted CNG vehicles across India which is the highest ever sales of eco-friendly CNG-powered cars in FY 2019-20.
The new S-CNG vehicles are also aligned with the Govt. of India’s vision of enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country to 15% by the year 2030 from the current 6.2%. The Government of India is also increasing CNG connectivity and has installed 477 CNG stations on average in the last year showing of 56% growth, as compared to the 156 stations average in the last 5 years.
