Maruti Suzuki has revealed the first sketch of the all-new XL6 crossover MPV. As we all know, the XL6 is going to be a 6-seater crossover utility vehicle based on the existing Ertiga. However, the XL6 will be sold via Nexa dealerships hinting that there will be a premium charged over the standard Ertiga. Expect the XL6 to be at least INR 50,000 more expensive than the Ertiga variants.
Maruti Suzuki claims that the XL6 will be more sporty and will come with premium touches inside and outside. It will be sold as a lifestyle vehicle with the versatility of 3-row cabin seating space. To be dubbed as a Premium MPV, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will still be cheaper than the closest, but slightly larger competitor, the Mahindra Marazzo.
The Ertiga-based Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be launched in India in the coming weeks.
Sketches of the 2019 Maruti Suzuki XL6 reveal that it will get a faux skid plate effect at the front and back, new reprofiled bumpers, new LED fog lamps with new housing, LED DRLs, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, chunky body cladding all around, new front grille, new flatter bonnet profile and contrast painted ORVMs.
Inside, the XL6 will get captain seat layout in the 2nd row making it a 6-seater. The Ertiga had already grown in size, and hence, a 6-seater will feel much more spacious in the cabin. Also, the XL6 is expected to get all-black interiors for a sporty touch. Expect top trims to get leather upholstery.
At launch, Maruti Suzuki is expected to offer the XL6 only with the new 1.5L petrol engine. This motor we have already seen in other cars and is BSVI compliant. There is a possibility that the 1.5L diesel variant will be launched later. For now, the XL6 petrol is expected get manual and automatic options.
Bookings of the XL6 at Nexa showrooms are expected to begin soon and the launch is expected before the end of August 2019. Closest competition to the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be the Honda BR-V.
