Maruti Suzuki recalls Baleno, Vitara Brezza & S-Cross for steering problem

An official recall is yet to be announced, but Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to rectify a faulty steering setup on their popular range of cars. The Baleno, Vitara Brezza and S-Cross would be subject to this recall. The brand has notified service centres that if customers claim that their steering is making any click sounds or doesn’t function normal, it should be replaced.

Maruti Suzuki will be offering an additional extended warranty for this part. A total of 5 year warranty will be available on these steering units. If your car is out of warranty, still Maruti Suzuki will fix this problem.

So what is happening exactly? If you steer the Baleno, Vitara Brezza or S-Cross from end to end, that is when you turn the steering wheel lock to lock, it is making a click sound. This is due to some mechanical malfunction.

The steering column will be replaced free of cost.

It is unclear if just a small number of cars are affected by this issue, or otherwise. We await an official confirmation from Maruti Suzuki on the same.
