Maruti Suzuki is recalling 2,555 Alto K10 vehicles in the Indian market. The brand revealed that the recall pertains to a possible defect in Steering Gear Box Assembly part and “in a rare case may affect the vehicle steerability.” Customers can also check if their Alto K10 is under recall by entering their VIN on the brand’s official website under the “Important Information for Customers” section.
In addition to this, the brand has also advised that the car must not be driven until the part is replaced. Furthermore, the brand also revealed that the part will be replaced at no cost to customer. Also, affected vehicle owners will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki authorized dealer workshops where the steering gearbox assembly will be inspected for fault and replaced.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 comes with a 1.0-litre dual VVT petrol engine. The engine also comes with CNG fuel and has a dual independent ECUs developing 56.69 PS of power and 82.1 Nmof peak torque. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and claims to return a fuel economy of 33.85 km/kg which is likely to be the most efficient engine in the country.
In the past Maruti Suzuki also recalled around 17,362 vehicles manufactured between December 8, 2022, and January 12, 2023, for a faulty airbag controller unit. The faulty controller unit could result in a non-deployment of airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners and under the recall the part was replaced without any cost to the customer.
In other news, Maruti Suzuki plans to keep manufacturing and selling budget cars in the Indian market catering to the entry-level customers. While there has been a drop in sales in the budget car market, the brand is likely to bring the budget car market back in the next few years.
