Maruti Suzuki Nexa sold over 2.3 lakh cars in 2020

Maruti Suzuki NEXA continues to add more and more customers as days pass on. Currently, it has over 1.3 million customers and the brand anticipates the number to grow further in the coming years. In terms of total sales, NEXA contributes to about 19% of the total sales of Maruti Suzuki for the 2020-21 year which is up from 5% in 2015. In just 5 years, the company recorded a total sales of 1.1 million units.

Nexa Brand

The NEXA brand made its debut in 2015 with a new identity, under the philosophy of ‘Create. Inspire’, the main aim of this brand was to offer a more premium customer experience. The Nexa showrooms feature a more sophisticated way of leveraging various digital tools and equipment and thus represents itself as an upgrade from normal Maruti Suzuki showrooms. For the 2020 calendar year, Nexa reported sales of around 2.3 lakh units.

Models under Nexa Brand

Currently, there are five models on sale under the Nexa brand namely, XL6, S-Cross, Ciaz, Baleno and Ignis. Among all the models, Baleno is the top-selling product, in fact, it was the 3rd most selling car for the 2020 calendar year with 1,83,862 units behind Swift and Alto. Ignis, as Maruti Suzuki claims is a hit among the younger set of customers and reported that around 45% of the customers were of age 35 or less. The S-Cross is also gaining more sales post the launch of its updated version which happened in August 2020. In terms of sales figure the S-Cross petrol has witnessed over 104% growth in Q2 and Q3 of 2020-21 and Maruti Suzuki claims that the average monthly sales have also doubled.

Records and Accolades

Nexa is currently the 3rd most popular brand in terms of the number of units sold behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. The company also claims that Ciaz is the highest selling car in the premium sedan segment from 2016 to 2020. Its best selling product, Baleno, was the fastest car to sell 8 lakh units in under 5 years. The MPV offering, XL6 has also increased MSIL’s market share from 40% to 58%.
