Written by Parichay Malvankar

The Ertiga has always been a good spacious family car for the Indian market, but now with the new generation allowing for more space, the Ertiga also makes good sense for the taxi market. Maruti Suzuki has now launched the Ertiga Tour M in a diesel engine option priced at INR 9.82 lakh ex-showroom. This car will be sold only to the commercial plate operators. Maruti Suzuki also has the Ertiga Tour M sold in petrol and CNG fuel options which were introduced earlier this year.

The Ertiga Tour M comes with the same diesel engine. The 1.5L, 4-cylinder, DDiS 225 oil burner under the hood has been developed in-house and produces 95 HP of power and 225 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The older Ertiga came with the 1.3L, Fiat-sourced diesel engine which Maruti Suzuki will not be upgrading to BSVI standards. The Ertiga Tour M claims a mileage of 24.20 kmpl, which will be very cost effective for fleet owners. Now it is unclear if Maruti Suzuki will upgrade this 1.5L diesel engine fro, BSIV to BSVI by April 2020.

The Tour M model also gets the car speed limited to 80 kmph, which is a norm in the fleet car market. The Tour M is based on the Vdi trim of the Ertiga and it gets features such as projector headlamps, air-conditioner, steel wheels with wheel caps, all power windows, power folding rear view mirrors, stereo system with bluetooth, steering mounted controls, rear AC vents, reclining 2nd row seats, etc.

For safety, Maruti Suzuki offers the Ertiga Tour M with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder, ISOFIX, defogger, and more…
