The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has managed over 2.7 lakh unit sales since launch, and currently has 29% market share in the segment. The Ciaz was first launched in 2014 and has already received a mid-life makeover. The Ciaz S although positioned as a sporty variant, there is no change to the powertrain and other components. On the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S, the brand has introduced dual tone exterior paint finish with the side and bumper spoilers, boot lid spoiler, rear view mirror cover, fog lamp garnish and the 16″ alloy wheels finished in black. The Ciaz S on the inside comes with black interiors and silver accents on the door pads and instrument panel.
The BS6 compliant K15 Smart Hybrid Petrol Engine is a 1,462cc, 4-cylinder, DOHC block producing 77 kW of power @ 6000 RPM @ 138 Nm of torque @ 4400 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. The mileage is rated at 20.65 kmpl for manual and 20.04 kmpl for automatic transmissions.
The Ciaz in this current avatar is expected to continue till 2021-22. With the BS6 upgrades, the Ciaz has lost the diesel engine option which it had. The Ciaz first came with the Fiat-sourced 1.3L diesel engine and later got a in-house developed 1.5L motor. It is unfortunate that the recently introduced / developed 1.5L diesel is being scrapped for the time being.
