Maruti Suzuki has introduced its most popular car, the Wagon R with a BSVI compliant petrol engine. The brand has also recently updated the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Baleno, Swift and now the WagonR. The Swift and the WagonR are the latest models in the portfolio to get the BSVI updated petrol engines and the Alto and Baleno were updated a few months back.
The BSVI upgrade will only be seen on the 1.2-litre engine variant and the 1.0-litre engine has not been upgraded yet. The 1.2-litre engine has the a displacement of 1197cc, 4-cylinder engine producing 83 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque @ 4200 RPM coupled to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox and the 1.0-litre has a 998cc, 3-cylinder engine producing 68 PS of power @ 5500 RPM and 90 Nm of torque @ 3500 RPM paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The WagonR now comes in 14 variants in its line-up with six 1.0-litre petrol engines, six 1.2-litre petrol engine variants and two CNG variants. The prices start from INR 5.10 lakh and go up to INR 5.91 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 1.2-litre BSVI compliant model. Earlier the range used to start from INR 4.89 lakh to INR 5.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price on the 1.0-litre model has also been revised and the new pricing starts from INR 4.34 lakh to INR 5.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and for reference, the previous pricing started from INR 4.20 lakh to INR 5.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new Wagon R features steering-mounted controls, a new instrument cluster, and 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, air-conditioning, power windows, 12V accessory socket, bottle holders, etc. In terms of safety, the car features driver side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, over speed alert, seat belt reminder with buzzer, child proof rear door lock as standard features.
