Maruti unveiled two new Nexa models at the 2023 Auto Expo. These include the new 5-door Jimny and the Baleno-based Fronx crossover. Booking for both these cars were opened online as well as at dealerships. Now, the company has said that Jimny bookings have crossed the 15,000 mark while over 5,500 customers have booked the Fronx.
Maruti is expected to commence Jimny deliveries from May 2023 while Fronx is expected to be launched from April 2023.
The Jimny has now made its global debut in the five-door guise. For the uninitiated, Suzuki in the international market has sold close to 3.2 million units globally across 199 countries and regions, such is the reputation of the Jimny.
Maruti has equipped a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine in the Jimny. This unit produces 104.8 PS of power and 134.2 Nm of maximum torque. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional 4-speed automatic gearbox. The Jimny also comes with an AllGrip Pro all-wheel-drive system with Low Range Transfer Gear.
The Jimny 5-Door measures 3985mm in length, 1645mm in width, and 1720mm in height. The SUV also comes with a 2590mm of wheelbase. The 5-door Jimny comes with a seating capacity of 4 passengers. The Jimny 5-Door also comes with 208 litres of boot space expandable up to 332 litres with the rear seats folded.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx features a contemporary, youthful, aerodynamic and sporty design theme. The car features a progressive roofline which ends with a full-connected LED lightbar at the rear end. The Fronx also features the NexWave grille at the front which integrates well with the crystal block LED DRLs. The front bumper is angular and integrates a three-pot headlamp. The car also gets a chrome window sill and dual tone alloy wheels. The squared-off wheel arches also bring an SUV stance to the Fronx. The Fronx also comes with a pronounced haunch and a chunky silver skid plate at the rear.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx gets a K-Series 1.2-litre Dual Jet, Dual VVT naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces 89.73 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The engine is offered with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). As an option, the brand also offers a K-Series 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine. The engine produces 100.06 PS of power and 147.6 Nm of torque. It comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
