Maruti Suzuki has achieved a significant milestone, producing its 1 croreth (10 millionth) car at its Manesar plant since its inception in October 2006. This remarkable achievement highlights the plant’s efficiency and the company’s commitment to quality and innovation.
The Manesar plant, spread over 600 acres, is one of Maruti Suzuki’s largest manufacturing facilities It produces a range of popular models, including the Brezza, Ertiga, Dzire, WagonR, S-Presso, Celerio, and Ciaz. These models are not only bestsellers in India but are also exported to various international markets, including Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and neighboring Asian countries.
Reaching the 1 crore production mark in just 18 years is a testament to the plant’s operational excellence and the dedication of its workforce. The plant has maintained a consistent production rate, averaging one car per minute over the years. This milestone also underscores Maruti Suzuki’s role in supporting the Indian economy through job creation and local manufacturing.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “Crossing the 1 crore cumulative production mark at our Manesar facility is a testament to India’s manufacturing capability and our commitment to the larger national goal of ‘Make in India’.” He also thanked customers, employees, business associates, and the Government of India for their continued support.
With a production capacity of around 2.35 million units per annum, the Manesar plant continues to play a crucial role in Maruti Suzuki’s growth strategy. The company is also focusing on expanding its electric vehicle lineup and enhancing its global presence.
