Maruti Suzuki has announced that its compact SUV, the Fronx, has achieved a significant sales milestone, crossing the 2 lakh unit mark in just 17.3 months since its launch in April 2023. This achievement underscores the vehicle’s popularity in the competitive Indian automotive market.
The Fronx reached its first 1 lakh sales milestone in January 2024, just 10 months after its launch. The subsequent 1 lakh units were sold in an additional 7.3 months, highlighting the sustained demand for the model. This rapid sales growth positions the Fronx as one of the fastest-selling models in its segment.
The Fronx has garnered significant traction in both Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, with top markets including NCR, Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, and Bengaluru. Its appeal is attributed to a combination of factors such as its modern design, advanced features, and multiple powertrain options.
Powering the Maruti Suzuki Fronx are two advanced engine options. These include a new 1.2-litre K-series Dual Jet Dual VVT engine with Idle Start Stop technology. The engine also comes with a 5-speed manual as well as a 5-speed AGS Auto Gear Shift automated manual transmission option. The brand also offers this engine in the bi-fuel CNG kit fitted from the factory. In the CNG fuel avatar, the engine return a mileage of 28.5 km/kg. For performance enthusiasts, the Fronx SUV is also offered with a 1.0-litre K-Series Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology. The engine comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission with steering mounted paddle shifters.
The Fronx also gets a lot of future proof features. This includes a heads-up-display with turn-by-turn navigation, 360-degree camera and wireless smartphone charging. In addition to this, the Fronx also comes with a 9-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The compact SUV has attracted a diverse customer base, including first-time buyers and those upgrading within the segment. The Fronx Turbo variant, in particular, has been popular among customers seeking a more spirited driving experience.
