Maruti Suzuki Fronx could get strong hybrid system like Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly planning to introduce a strong hybrid system in its popular compact SUV, the Fronx. This move follows the successful implementation of a similar system in the Grand Vitara, which has been well-received for its fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

Technology Behind the Hybrid System

The strong hybrid system expected to be introduced in the Fronx is likely to be similar to the one used in the Grand Vitara. This system features a series hybrid setup, where the petrol engine primarily acts as a generator to charge the battery, which in turn powers the electric motor. This setup allows the vehicle to run on electric power alone for short distances, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Benefits for Consumers

For consumers, the introduction of a strong hybrid system in the Fronx means better fuel economy and lower running costs. The Grand Vitara’s hybrid system has already demonstrated impressive fuel efficiency, with a claimed mileage of nearly 28 kmpl. If the Fronx can achieve similar or better figures, it would make it one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its segment.

Market Positioning and Competition

The Fronx, with its new hybrid system, is expected to compete with other hybrid SUVs in the market, such as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Honda City Hybrid. Maruti Suzuki’s decision to equip the Fronx with a strong hybrid system could give it a competitive edge, as it will be the only hybrid sub-4 meter SUV and will be priced lower than the aforementioned vehicles.

Future Prospects

Maruti Suzuki’s focus on hybrid technology is part of its larger vision to offer a diverse range of powertrain options to its customers. In addition to strong hybrids, the company is also exploring other eco-friendly technologies, including electric vehicles (EVs) and compressed natural gas (CNG) models.
