Maruti Suzuki had unveiled the Fronx crossover at the 2023 Auto Expo in Greater Noida back in January. As the carmaker is gearing up to launch the car in the month of April 2023, a test mule of the Fronx CNG has been spotted testing. With no diesel options in its portfolio, the company is looking to offer alternative options like CNG and strong hybrid systems. The Fronx is based on the Baleno platform.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG : More Details
The highly camouflaged test mule had emission testing equipment attached at the back. This means the Fronx CNG is being readied for a market launch very soon.
In terms of features and options, Maruti will most likely offer the CNG variant in the mid trims. This means Delta, Delta+ or Zeta. Hence we can expect features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice assistant features, over-the-air updates, 4-speaker sound system, electrically adjustable ORVMs and steering wheel-mounted controls.
In higher trims, expect an addition of LED headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps and 16-inch alloys.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG : Powertrain
Similar to the other Maruti CNG models, the company will equip the Fronx with the 1.2-litre petrol engine along with the CNG kit. Power-wise, the engine will put out 77 HP and 98.5 Nm of peak torque when on CNG mode. In petrol mode, the same engine generates 90 HP and 113 Nm. Maruti is likely to offer only the 5-speed manual gearbox with this option.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx features a contemporary, youthful, aerodynamic and sporty design theme. The car features a progressive roofline which ends with a full-connected LED light bar at the rear end. The Fronx also features the NexWave grille at the front which integrates well with the crystal block LED DRLs. The front bumper is angular and integrates a three-pot headlamp. The car also gets a chrome window sill and dual tone alloy wheels. The squared-off wheel arches also bring an SUV stance to the Fronx. The Fronx also comes with a pronounced haunch and a chunky silver skid plate at the rear.
