Maruti Suzuki has ben planning to launch the eVX SUV in the Indian market. Now, reports reveal that the upcoming eVX electric SUVs launch is likely to be delayed. Reportedly, the brand is facing multiple battery supply and software challenges.
This has led to delays in the start of production by at least five months. Initially, it was reported that the eVX will make its debut by the September of this year. However, reports now reveal that the Maruti Suzuki eXV will be launching in February of 2025. This will also lead to delay in the production and launch of the Toyota version as it will be based on the eVX.
Furthermore, the exports to Europe and Japan is also likely to be delayed as the model will be mass produced in India. This has been reportedly extended from the end of 2024 to the sometime in 2025. The Maruti Suzuki is likely to have an output of 1.5 lakh units out of which 75-80 percent is likely to be allocated for the international markets.
The delays are likely to be due to the complexities in the electric powertrains, says a media report. Also, advanced features, updates and innovation in technology are likely causes of the delay. This could be because Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer a complete package and to minimise any glitches in the system.
Maruti Suzuki is likely to retail the upcoming eVX from its premium NEXA showrooms. Following the launch of the eVX, Toyota under its partnership with Maruti Suzuki will be launching a rebranded version of the eVX sometime later. Furthermore, reports reveal that the brand plans to launch six electric vehicles by the end of 2031. Also, it is being projected that by the end of 2030, about 15% of its sales are likely to be from electric vehicles.
