Maruti Suzuki Ertiga & XL6 getting rear axle replacement

Maruti Suzuki recalls specific units of the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 to replace the rear axle. According to reports, the brand has been receiving reports of uneven tyre wear on the rear of both the Ertiga and XL6. Therefore, the company will be recalling the units facing the issue. It is important to note that this is not a mass recall, and only those customers with the problem will be part of the recall. 

The Recall

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 manufactured before October 2020 and facing the issue could be fitted with a faulty axle. If the tyre rotation occurs at regular intervals, The customer may not notice the uneven tyre wear. In such a case, the user should observe tyre wear for at least 10,000 km before replacing the rear axle. The brand will replace the faulty part number “46500M72R10” with a new part bearing “46500M72R11.” According to reports, Maruti Suzuki also notified their dealerships of the problem through a circular on 6th January 2021. 

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga & XL6 – Engine Specifications

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 is the same BS6 compliant K15B series four-cylinder naturally-aspirated unit. The 1.5-litre engine produces 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque and comes with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. 

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga & XL6 – Updates in the Future

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 are likely to come with new model year updates. The brand is likely to give both MPV cosmetic updates. But it is also likely to come with a new set of wheels with larger size rims and tyres. Speculations are that the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Ertiga will also get interior updates such as a wireless smartphone charging cradle, a more premium upholstery, a new Connected-Infotainment System, additional airbags for safety etc. These additions will help the car better compete with its rivals.
